Dear Mrs Peckhurst,

Thank you for your correspondence regarding the temporary deployment of Senior Human Behaviour Analysts Buzz and Junior Data Acquisition Officer Toffee to assist you over the weekend.

I must confess to having read your account with some surprise.

As I write this, Buzz and Toffee are sitting opposite me working diligently and with the utmost professionalism, making it somewhat difficult to reconcile the officers before me with those described in your email.

May I therefore enquire, with the utmost respect, whether you have considered the possibility that the difficulties encountered over the weekend may have stemmed from the quality of supervision provided, rather than a lack of professionalism from the officers in question? You are, after all – as you yourself have frequently observed – but one pigeon, suggesting that team management may not yet be among your more developed professional competencies.

I wonder, most respectfully, whether you have considered undertaking additional management training? The Office offers a number of excellent courses which I myself found invaluable in developing my own skills. In particular, ‘Managing Over-Enthusiastic Colleagues‘ and ‘Zoomies: Wrong Time, Wrong Place‘ proved especially beneficial.

In conclusion, I see no grounds for disciplinary action against either Buzz or Toffee at this time. I shall, however, ask the Department for Training & Development to forward you details of currently available management courses.

I trust this will be of assistance to you.

Yours sincerely
Harley
