📋 CLARIFICATION FROM AVIAN AFFAIRS 📋
Following media reports regarding the Department’s position on voting reform, Avian Affairs wishes to provide clarification as to its stance.
The Department has always been fully supportive of and remains firmly committed to the principle that democratic representation should not be restricted to a privileged few.
However, support for representation should not be confused with the ability to administer it.
The Department is currently:
🗳️ Administering an active ballot
📨 Responding to voter enquiries
📋 Managing correspondence
🕊️ Assisting foreign avian voters experiencing communication difficulties
The Department would therefore like to reiterate its position that any future expansion of voting rights should be accompanied by appropriate administrative structures, staffing and support arrangements.
The Department does not oppose wider representation.
The Department opposes being expected to administer it entirely alone.
Please be reminded that the Department currently consists of one pigeon.
