3.10 Statement from Tiggy

📋 STATEMENT FROM TIGGY 📋

Following recent discussion regarding democratic representation, my Independent Senior Adviser for Constitutional & Strategic Matters, Luther, and I have completed a thorough review of the relevant legislation, departmental guidance, historical records and the manifesto previously put forward by Avian Affairs during the campaign to repeal the Avian Representation Act 1996.

Particular consideration has been given to Emmeline’s battle cry during that campaign:

“Two wings, two feet, fly or float, one vote, one vote, one vote!”

And the resulting democratic decree that voting rights would be extended to all those with two wings and two feet.

Having carefully considered the matter, I have determined that it would be entirely unreasonable to say that, whilst not being birds, bats do not satisfy these published criteria.

I therefore confirm that bats shall, with immediate effect, be entitled to participate in voting activities on Platform 5.

I further note that bats, being predominantly nocturnal, would be placed at a significant disadvantage if voting were only available during daylight hours.

Accordingly, I have instructed Avian Affairs to make appropriate arrangements to facilitate overnight voting opportunities and ensure that no eligible voter is discriminated against on the basis of their sleeping pattern.

I am confident that the necessary arrangements can be implemented with minimal difficulty.
