18.08 Leaked Audition Notes: Ant 675

The Office is investigating how the following confidential judging notes from the Synchronised Tap & Parasol Company auditions have entered the public domain.

ANT NUMBER: 675 | NAME: Tate McKay

AUDITION 1: Tate failed to adequately warm up and subsequently twisted three ankles during the opening sequence.

JUDGE NOTES:-

Julian Mercer (Choreographer): Candidate made a confident entrance and commanded strong stage presence prior to injury. Would be prepared to see again.
DECISION: RE-AUDITION

Edmund Rattle (Conductor): A competent, if perhaps slightly overenthusiastic start – the candidate was a touch ahead of the beat, although this may have been nerves rather than a lack of musicality. Audition ended before meaningful assessment could be made. No objection to a further audition from a musical perspective, but will defer to Moira with regard to dancing ability.
DECISION: DEFERRED

Moira Sibley (Prima Ballerina): Prescribed warm-up not completed despite clear instructions, resulting in avoidable injury. Professional preparation forms part of an audition. Candidate was not properly prepared.
DECISION: UNSUCCESSFUL

On the basis of the panel’s initial feedback, Ant 675 was not offered a further audition. However, following protests from her family, another audition was eventually granted.

AUDITION 2 NOTES:-

Julian Mercer: Properly prepared and technically very competent, with a confident stage presence and good command of the choreography. Would recommend a little focused practice on the upper 2 limbs and moving the parasol smoothly between feet 2 and 4.
DECISION: FIRST TROUPE

Edmund Rattle: Again, occasionally ahead of the beat, indicating a tendency to rush. However, when locked onto the beat, demonstrated strong rhythmic ability. A good candidate with clear musicality and potential.
DECISION: SECOND TROUPE / FIRST RESERVE

Moira Sibley: Overall the performance was rather stiff and pedestrian. Doubtless the candidate is technically competent, however technical ability is no substitute for natural aptitude and an instinctive feel for movement, which the candidate somewhat lacks.
DECISION: SECOND TROUPE

FINAL DECISION: SECOND TROUPE
