15.10 Re: Morning Patrol – 16 September 2026

Dear Tiggy,

Please accept my apologies for not having communicated sooner; however, one has been fully occupied. Shortly after departure yesterday, I encountered the Duck (you know the one), a most interesting and erudite fellow, I must say. His outlook rather reminded me of a spectacled caiman named Professor Alistair Fitzwilliam, with whom I once spent several fascinating weeks surveying tributaries of the Rio Negro. Fitzwilliam maintained that no expedition could commence until its geographical parameters had been agreed by all concerned, a position which resulted in our spending six days in camp attempting to agree precisely where we were proposing to go.

Ah, but I digress. So, my point is, the Duck (you know the one) and I fell into a most stimulating discussion concerning precisely how broad “broadly” is. After considerable deliberation, we arrived at the following:

“Broadly under control” may reasonably be taken to mean that matters not presently directly under control remain sufficiently contained so as not to compromise the broader state of control, and that the number of items not completely under control does not far exceed the number that remain under complete control.

I would be most interested to learn whether this accords with your own interpretation?

Now to your questions. You asked for my present location.

I am currently within the Wee Parasol Cathedral which, I must say, Tiggy, really is astonishing! Remarkable! The scale! The workmanship! The ingenuity! Bravo! Bravo! was all I could utter as in awe I slid into the shadow of its magnificence…and from here inside, the fidelity to the great vaulted interior of Chester Cathedral is quite extraordinary. Indeed, as I gaze upwards, one is put rather in mind of Chartres Cathedral (Notre-Dame de Chartres), but perhaps that is a matter for my full report, the anticipated completion of which it would, at this stage, be premature to estimate.

However, what I can say is that I believe that, assuming, of course, that you concur with the aforementioned definition, all does currently remain broadly under control.

Yours sincerely,
Mr Phileas Moss Esq.
