Following recent concerns regarding the adherence to rules, the Duck (you know the one) has been addressing the ants in the Staff Census queue on the importance of rules.

The Office has obtained the following partial transcript.

DUCK:

…let’s now consider a real-world rule. There is a rule that ants must not dance while waiting in the Staff Census queue.

This appears straightforward, but when does movement become dance?

If two ants move four feet in time, is that movement or dancing? How about if seven ants move one leg in time? Or if one ant does a double somersault…

[PAUSE]

At some point movement becomes dance, but who decides where that point lies?

Society?

The individual?

Mrs Emmeline Peckhurst?

The Department for Human Behaviour & Statistical Analysis?

[PAUSE]

If an ant believes herself to be merely moving, while 11,634 ants around her believe she is dancing, which is true?

And if nobody sees the ant dancing…

[PAUSE]

…has the ant danced at all?

[VERY LONG PAUSE]

Which brings us to the very nature of reality itself…
