One has commenced this letter on several occasions, only to put it aside because no words seem sufficient.
From the moment one was greeted at Pen-y-Bont Station until the moment one reluctantly departed for Chester, every kindness, thoughtful detail and moment of hospitality was simply extraordinary.
One shall long remember enjoying chilled Welsh spring water infused with fresh catnip and the most delicious salmon morsels one has ever tasted in The Orangery. As for the meals you lovingly prepared, they were quite simply beyond compare – returning to station cuisine has required a certain…adjustment.
One has also found oneself wondering about the vintage tuna water served upon the Sun Terrace. One neglected to enquire as to the year, but suspects it must have been an exceptionally fine vintage.
One particularly enjoyed touring your beautiful kitchen gardens and craft studio. One also remains deeply honoured that you should devote so much time to depicting oneself in so many different mediums – from oil paints and cross-stitch to marble sculpture and stained glass. Does your creativity know no bounds?
The gathering with Lady Ashcombe and the neighbouring feline dignitaries shall remain amongst one’s happiest memories. One is, however, obliged to admit that Herr Lukas Karton’s magnificent cardboard replica of Dillwyn Manor presented one with an unexpectedly difficult decision, for whilst it was unquestionably a masterpiece, the empty delivery box also possessed considerable merit.
Professor Leonardo Lumina’s astonishing laser display provided a most fitting conclusion to an unforgettable stay.
More than any individual event, however, it is your warmth and generosity that one shall remember most. You welcomed one into your beautiful home with such affection that, for a little while, it truly felt as though one had always belonged there.
One hopes it won’t be too long before one has the honour of visiting Dillwyn Manor again. Until then, please accept one’s sincerest thanks for a weekend that shall remain amongst one’s most treasured memories.
