4.05 STATEMENT REGARDING FLYING MAMMAL VOTING ANALYSIS

The Office confirms receipt of Harley’s memorandum in respect of the Department’s interim findings regarding weekend flying mammal voting in the Employee of the Week ballot and considers the allegations to be sufficiently serious to warrant a full investigation.

Accordingly, Employee of the Week voting has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full review of the integrity of the ballot.

The Office wishes to make clear that this decision should not be interpreted as criticism of Mrs Emmeline Peckhurst. Nevertheless, confidence in the democratic process must remain paramount.

The Office appreciates that this temporary suspension may prove disappointing to eligible voters and those eagerly awaiting the outcome of the vote. Every effort will be made to conclude the investigation as swiftly as administrative procedures permit.

Further updates will be issued as and when appropriate. In the meantime, the Office requests that all subjects, whether human, mammal, bird, arachnid or insect, remain calm and refrain from unnecessary speculation regarding either the vote or Mrs Peckhurst’s position.
