The Court can now confirm that, having carefully considered the evidence and the respective defences presented by Station Rats A and B, Tiggy has now taken the Bench to deliver her judgment.
“Following yesterday’s proceedings, one invited Mr Redfern to clarify the number of cubs he has. It has now been confirmed, as one rather suspected, that he has no cubs and has never claimed otherwise.
Station Rat A therefore knowingly misled both his fellow defendant and this Court in an attempt to justify actions which he knew from the outset to be dishonest. One considers this deliberate deception, together with the fact that these offences were committed whilst already serving a community service sentence for the manufacture of fraudulent identification cards, to be significant aggravating factors.
One accepts that Station Rat B genuinely believed the account given to him by Station Rat A and was persuaded that he was helping both a struggling father and the Department for Street Food Regulation, rather than participating in a fraudulent licensing operation. Whilst this does not excuse him completely, it once again demonstrates that Station Rat B lacks the wherewithal of a criminal mastermind.
Accordingly, one sentences Station Rat A to thirty-four days in custody. His existing community service order shall recommence upon his release, together with a further 120 hours of community service under the supervision of the Department for Cleaning & Environmental Hygiene removing chewing gum, bird droppings and other undesirable deposits from station property.
Station Rat B is sentenced to 27 hours of community service within the Department for Street Food Regulation where, under very close supervision, he will assist in processing genuine licence applications.
One further orders that neither rat shall, under any circumstances, manufacture documentation, issue licences, wear a white coat or represent themselves as inspectors, examiners, officers, consultants or specialists of any kind.
This Court is adjourned.”
All Rise. Tiggy has stepped down from the Bench.
